Beauty tip: The more you take care of your skin, the less makeup you'll WANT to wear.
Natural beauty starts with beautiful skin.
So, let me share with you my personal skin regimen. (Note: I have oily skin in my T-zone and normal skin everywhere else. Everyone has unique skin, you know your skin best! Figure out what works best for YOUR skin.)
STEP 1: Morning Moisturizer
Since I have oily skin, I usually use a lightweight moisturizer in the mornings. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Mary Kay Velocity.
It doesn't give me greasy skin! Woooooo hooooo!
STEP 2: WAIT. Wait at the very LEAST 10 minutes between applying moisturizer and applying makeup. Your makeup won't go on as well if you don't wait.
STEP 3: Mid day oil blotting.
So embarrassing. I get shiny. :/
Don't judge me.
So I use E.L.F. aloe oil blotters. They work great and are a great budget buy. Or you can use brown paper napkins and they work just as well!
STEP 3: Nighttime makeup remover.
This can get tricky.
To remove mascara: wet your eyelashes with warm water and let it absorb into the mascara for about 10 sec.
Then you can GENTLY wash your mascara off. Don't attack it! And don't pull on your lashes. Your eyelashes will hate you forever.
I don't use makeup remover. Weird, right? I wash my face with a gently daily cleanser and kill 2 birds with 1 stone. 1) Removes makeup 2) Removes excess oil off my face.
Make sure you cleanse! It's so important to preventing overnight whiteheads. Get a cleanser that is gentle enough (no salicylic acid!) that it doesn't remove your face's natural oils. If your cleanser is too harsh, your face will feel the need to replenish those oils and therefore give you some lovely zits!
Make sure you use a cleanser that is tailored to your skin type. If you have oily skin like mine, you want an oil free, non-comedogenic (doesn't clog pores), water based cleanser. If you have dry skin, you want an oil based, non-comedogenic cleanser.
I have tried many cleansers and this is my favorite... (plus it has a built in toner! Toner helps unclog pores).
STEP 4: Moisturize!
DON'T SKIP THIS STEP!
If your face feels dry, add a thicker moisturizer. I usually apply a lightweight moisturizer for the night :)
Do you guys use a anti-aging agent? Let me know!!! I use good ol' Vaseline.... (great budget buy) p.s. Jennifer Aniston uses it too so it WORKS!
